I still remember the first time I rode my bicycle by myself. I was eight or nine years old and I was ready to lose the training wheels. My dad took me to the empty parking lot at my elementary school where we spent the day practicing. I fell more times than I pedaled, including a few ugly wrecks that left my face tear-stained and my knees skinned. But throughout the entire day, my dad didn't give up on me. He didn't lose his patience - he was as determined as I was for me to master the "two-wheeler." When the moment came that he let go and I pedaled without falling, I was ecstatic. "I did it! I did it!" My braided blonde pigtails bounced up and down under my sparkly pink bike helmet as I hopped off my bike and celebrated.
Fast forward about 18 years, and I'm shouting the same thing, minus the pigtails and sparkly bike helmet.
"I'm doing it, I'm writing a blog!"
I've felt the desire to start a blog for quite some time. Thanks to my PLN on Twitter, I am surrounded by amazing educators whose writing inspires me on a regular basis. I am constantly connecting and finding new ideas and ways to better myself as a teacher. My goal for this blog is to use it as a platform for connecting with other educators and to reflect on my teaching, all while learning as I go. Learning is an amazing process, and I'm looking forward to celebrating it here!
