Hello and welcome! I am a third grade teacher at the beach in Delaware with a love for technology, books, and a good set of flair markers. I'm in my sixth year of teaching, having previously taught first and fourth grades. I have my M.S. in Educational Leadership from Fort Hays State University. I am honored to be the PBS Digital Innovator for Delaware and look forward to leading professional learning in that role.
A few things about me!
1. I am a beach transplant! I grew up in rural Pennsylvania, graduating from Penn State in 2011. I LOVE my Nittany Lions! We Are! Since I was little, I wanted to live at the beach. I made that dream come true when I graduated and took my first teaching position in Delaware. I've been here ever since!
2. I have a dog named Caruso who consistently finds himself in the most comfortable positions. Many evenings you can find us on the beach playing frisbee!
3. I traveled to Italy in the summer of 2015 and fell in love with the culture, the language, the food, the scenery...everything! As a result, I am currently teaching myself Italian, la bella lingua. My goal is to be able to hold a fluent conversation!
4. I didn't know I wanted to be a teacher until right before I started college. I couldn't focus my interest - I hopped from artist to journalist to music therapist to meteorologist (I even toyed with the idea of President). My dad could tell I needed direction, and that's how I ended up as a counselor for his Police Athletic League summer camp. My experiences there led me to declare my major in Elementary Education before classes began, and I've been in love with education ever since then. My curiosity to soak up everything around me is why I love teaching so much...I am an excitable learner!
Thank you for visiting - I look forward to connecting and learning with you!
